DreamCatchers-Online.com
Dreamcatchers can be traced back to the 1800’s, with unknown specific origins. The dreamcatcher is a tool used by various Native American Indian tribes to separate the bad, from the good. Hung above the bed, a dreamcatcher protects the sleeper from bad dreams and negative influences. In addition, some tribes believe that dreamcatchers also represent the circle of life. With birth starting at the outer rim, the web represents the cycles of life with old age returning a person back to an infant life state, completing the circle.
Throughout one’s life, negative influences will have an adverse effect on one’s spirit. The Dream Catcher serves as a spiritual protector, by separating the positive hopes and dreams from these adverse influences. Some believe dreamcatchers let the good dreams pass though while trapping and destroying the bad (much like a spider and it’s prey). Others believe the bad pass through the center hole while the good are preserved in the web (one’s life).
